Astro: fast by default.

A framework that ships plain HTML and only the JavaScript a page needs. This website runs on it, on Cloudflare. For marketing sites, blogs and documentation it is the quickest thing we build and the cheapest to host.

Choose Astro when…

  • A marketing site or blog where speed, accessibility and search performance matter more than a visual editor.
  • Content that lives in Markdown or a headless CMS and is edited by a small team.
  • You want near-zero hosting costs and no plugins to patch.

Astro work we take on.

Marketing sites and blogs

Built from your content model with a design system your team can reuse, and a Lighthouse score to match.

WordPress to Astro migrations

Headless set-ups

Astro in front of a CMS your editors already like, with forms and search that work without a server.

Cloudflare deployment

Edge hosting, a strict content security policy, Turnstile on the forms and an accessibility test suite in the build.

Proof: kickassonline.com is an Astro site on Cloudflare Workers: 435 migrated posts, WCAG 2.2 AA checks on every template, no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Questions about Astro

Can our team edit an Astro site?

Yes, through a headless CMS or by editing Markdown files, and we train you on whichever you choose. For teams that want a visual editor for every page, WordPress or Webstudio is the better fit.

Why is Astro faster than WordPress?

It builds the pages once and serves them as static files from the edge, with no database or plugin code running on each visit.

Does Astro work for SEO?

Very well. Clean HTML, fast pages, structured data and a sitemap are all first-class, which is why we moved our own site to it.

Can an Astro site have a contact form or search?

Yes. This site's brief form runs on a small server function with Turnstile spam protection, and search runs in the browser with Pagefind, so no server is needed for either.

Who maintains an Astro site?

There is far less to maintain than a plugin-based CMS: no database, no plugin updates. Dependencies are updated under a care plan, and content changes run on Kickass Days or by your own team.
