EAWL NANYUKI CHRISTMAS FAIR

The East Africa Women's League, Nanyuki Branch, partnered with Kickass Online to build a website from scratch for their centenary Christmas Fair, a community institution with a hundred years of history and no digital presence at all. What began as manual vendor applications and offline ticket sales became a fully digital event built and delivered pro bono in a single week.

WHAT WE STAND FOR.

The Challenge

The EAWL Nanyuki Branch has run its Christmas Fair since not long after the branch was founded in 1926, funding causes including the Geriatric Unit at Nanyuki Cottage Hospital.

  • Despite that legacy, the fair had no digital infrastructure at all
  • Vendors applied manually, tickets sold offline, and sponsors had no way to get involved digitally, a fragile system for an event of this scale
  • With no existing website, no brief, and no prior digital assets to build on, the fair needed a complete digital presence built from nothing, in time for the event

Our Approach

Kickass Online designed and built a complete four-page event site from scratch, delivered pro bono.

  • Brand and visual identity: A visual identity was designed to draw on the fair's own character: a forest green, hot orange, and gold palette, East African watercolour illustrations, and a custom giraffe mascot.
  • Vendor management: A tiered system was built across three stall spaces, with a six-step Google Forms application flow and an anti-fraud, server-linked QR vendor pass.
  • Ticketing: Ticket sales run entirely through M-Pesa, with advance tickets generating a QR code straight to the buyer's phone.
  • Handover-ready: The full site was handed to the EAWL committee with zero technical knowledge required to manage it.

The Solution

The solution was a complete four-page event site that turns a century of community work into something visitors, vendors, and sponsors can all engage with digitally, delivered in time for a single event with no margin for delay.

The Result

The fair now has infrastructure to manage 100+ vendors, with 100% of proceeds going to EAWL charities and at no cost to the charity itself.

THE NUMBERS DON'T LIE.

100+ Vendors Managed
100% Proceeds to EAWL Charities
£0 Cost to Charity (Pro Bono)
