Working with us
How much does a website cost?
Send the brief and you get a fixed price and a date the same day. Larger programmes start with a two-week discovery phase, which gives you a fixed price for the build. SEO starts at £1,000 a month and care plans at £165, both fixed.
How long does a build take?
Package sites launch in four to eight weeks, and the date goes in writing with the price. Larger programmes are phased at discovery and typically run three to five months.
Why do you limit how many projects you take on?
A lean core team builds a few projects well at once. Each one gets a planned slot, so your build is not squeezed between other clients' emergencies.
Do you do ongoing maintenance?
Yes. Care plans from £165 a month cover backups, updates, security and uptime monitoring, and we add features as the business grows.
What if I just need a simple brochure site?
We build five-page sites to the same standard as fifty-page ones: planned around the enquiry, fast, and easy for you to edit.
Do you handle the copywriting?
Yes. We write the copy before the design, so each page is built around what it needs to say.
Can you work with our procurement process?
Yes. We respond to tenders and RFPs, sign data processing agreements and complete supplier questionnaires. Our policies are published on this site.
Kickass Days
Do the bigger blocks include extra services?
No. Each block covers the same work. Bigger blocks earn more bonus time.
What if a job is bigger than my remaining balance?
We'll tell you before we start. You can top up with another block, or we'll quote the work separately.
Can I use my days on several websites?
Yes, as long as they belong to your organisation. All the time comes from one shared balance.
What happens to unused time?
It expires 12 months after purchase. We'll remind you 60 and 30 days before that, and our quarterly reviews help you plan the time so none goes to waste.
Can I buy more than one block?
Yes. Top up at any time. Each block runs on its own 12-month clock.
Website design and technologies
What CMS do you use?
WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Umbraco or a custom build, chosen for what the site has to do and who will edit it.
Do you use templates?
No. Each site is designed from a blank page around your content and your conversion path.
Will I be able to edit the site myself?
Yes. Your team can change text and images and publish posts from the CMS without touching code, and we show you how at handover.
Do you build to accessibility standards?
Yes, WCAG 2.2 AA, tested before launch, with an accessibility statement supplied for your site.
Can you integrate with our CRM or membership system?
Yes. Integration is scoped before the build starts, so the site is built around the records you already keep.
Who owns the site?
You do. Code, content, hosting and domain are in your name from day one.
AI integrations
What can you integrate?
Chatbots on your website and WhatsApp, voice agents that answer and route calls, automations on n8n or Zapier for quotes, reviews and invoices, AI summaries and drafting inside Gmail or Outlook, and AI assistants connected to your CRM. If a task has a clear input and output, it is a candidate.
Which AI models do you use?
Claude, OpenAI and Google models, chosen per job for accuracy, cost and where the data is processed. We tell you which model runs each integration and what it costs per month.
What happens to our data?
Your documents stay in your accounts. Prompts and answers go to the model provider under a business agreement with no training on your data, and we keep to UK GDPR: a processing record, retention limits and a human route for anyone who asks for one.
How much does it cost?
Each integration is quoted as a fixed build price plus the monthly running cost of the model and tools, after a free call. A single chatbot or automation is a few days of work; a voice agent with bookings is more.
Do we need a new website for this?
No. Integrations connect to the site and systems you have. If the site itself is the problem, we say so and quote that separately.
Who looks after it once it is live?
We do, under a care plan or a Kickass Days block, with a monthly review of what the AI said and did.
Will this replace people?
It replaces tasks. The hours come back to your team for the work that needs a person.
Can our IT team review it?
Yes, and we would rather they did before launch than after. Every automation is documented, runs on accounts you own, and can be switched off by your team.
Strategy
Do I have to build the website with you after the strategy phase?
No. The roadmap is yours. It is written so your own team or another supplier can build from it.
How long does the strategy phase take?
Two weeks: analytics review and stakeholder interviews in the first, wireframes and the roadmap in the second. Larger estates can take a third week, agreed before we start.
What exact deliverables do I get?
A sitemap, wireframes for every page on the conversion path, a competitor gap analysis and a recommended platform.
SEO, GEO and AEO
How long does it take to see results?
Three to six months for rankings that hold. If an agency promises page one in 30 days, ask how.
Do you guarantee the #1 spot on Google?
No, and nobody honest can. We commit to disciplined work and transparent reporting, and you see what it produces each month.
Do I need to rewrite my entire website?
Rarely. We audit first, restructure the weak pages, fix slow code and leave what already works.
What are GEO and AEO?
GEO, generative engine optimisation, is the work that gets a business recommended inside AI answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews. AEO, answer engine optimisation, is the work that makes a page the direct answer to a question, in featured snippets, voice assistants and AI summaries. Both build on the same technical SEO and content, so they sit in the same retainer.
How do you measure AI visibility?
Each month we run a fixed set of buyer questions through the main assistants and record whether you are named, what they say about you and who else they recommend. That report sits next to the Google rankings and the enquiry numbers.
Is your SEO strategy built for AI search?
Yes. ChatGPT and Perplexity now send traffic too, so the same pages are structured so AI tools can read and quote them.
AEO
What is AEO?
Answer engine optimisation is the practice of structuring content so search engines and AI assistants use it as the direct answer to a question. It covers featured snippets, People Also Ask, Google AI Overviews, voice assistants and chat tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity.
How is AEO different from SEO?
SEO earns a position in the list of links. AEO earns the answer that sits above the list, or replaces it. They share the same foundations, so AEO without decent SEO rarely works, but AEO adds question research, answer-first writing and schema.
How is AEO different from GEO?
AEO is about one of your pages being quoted as the answer to a specific question. GEO, generative engine optimisation, is about your organisation being named and recommended when an AI writes its own answer from many sources. Most clients need both, and we run them together.
How quickly does AEO work?
Featured snippets and AI Overview citations can change within weeks of a page being rewritten and recrawled. After Ali Legal’s rebuild, visits from Google AI Overviews went from none to around 455 a month in about six months.
Can you guarantee an AI Overview or featured snippet?
No. Google and the AI providers decide what they quote, and anyone who guarantees it is guessing. We commit to the work and show you exactly which questions you win each month.
How much does AEO cost?
AEO runs inside our SEO retainers, which start at £1,000 + VAT a month, or as a fixed-price project for a set of pages. We quote after looking at your site and the questions you want to own.
GEO
What is GEO?
Generative engine optimisation is the practice of getting an organisation mentioned, accurately described and recommended in answers written by AI tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini and Google’s AI Mode and AI Overviews.
Is GEO the same as SEO?
No, but they overlap. SEO ranks a page in a list of links. GEO gets your organisation named inside an answer the AI writes itself, often drawing on several sources. Strong SEO helps, because many AI tools search the web before they answer, but GEO adds entity consistency, third-party mentions and prompt tracking.
Does GEO mean geographic targeting?
Not here. Some agencies use GEO for location-targeted advertising. In AI search, GEO means generative engine optimisation. If you want to reach people in a particular town or region, that is local SEO, which we also do.
How do you measure GEO?
Each month we run the same set of buyer questions through the main assistants and record whether you are named, what they say about you, which sources they cite and who else they recommend. Alongside that we report the visits that AI tools send to your site.
How long does GEO take?
Technical fixes and llms.txt can be picked up within weeks by AI tools that browse the web. Being recommended by a model answering from memory takes longer, because it depends on what is written about you elsewhere. Plan on three to six months for a measurable change.
How much does GEO cost?
GEO sits inside our SEO retainers, which start at £1,000 + VAT a month, or we quote it as a standalone project after the audit. A new site built to be recommended by AI from day one starts at £2,000 + VAT; see agentic websites.
Maintenance
How quickly do you respond?
A site-down alert reaches an engineer within minutes through uptime monitoring, and most outages are fixed within the hour; worst case, a backup is restored within four working hours. Everything else gets a reply within four working hours and the average ticket is resolved in 17 minutes. Content changes are done within 48 hours.
What happens if an update breaks the site?
It does not reach the live site. Updates run on staging first; if a plugin conflicts, we fix it there and release once it passes.
Do you host the website too?
Yes, on dedicated servers rather than shared hosting.
Can you maintain a site you didn't build?
Usually. We audit the code and security first, and if the previous build needs repairs we quote those before the plan starts.
Not sure where to start
What does it cost?
The 15-minute call is free. If you want the written report, the 4-S audit is £497 plus VAT and lands in five working days. Programmes over £10,000 go to discovery, a fixed fee quoted before it starts.
Will you just try to sell me a new website?
No. If the code is fine and the traffic strategy is the problem, we say so. If the copy is weak and the design is sound, we say that instead.
What if I don't know my numbers or analytics?
Then that is the first fix. We set up privacy-compliant tracking so the next decisions rest on numbers.
