THE LEAKY BUCKET.

A CENTURY OF COMMUNITY WITH NO DIGITAL HOME.

The East Africa Women's League Nanyuki Branch has been the heartbeat of the Nanyuki community since 1926. A hundred years of charity work, healthcare support, and community welfare, including funding the Nanyuki Cottage Hospital's Geriatric Unit and supporting children's welfare across the Laikipia plateau. Their annual Christmas Fair is one of Nanyuki's most beloved events: 100+ vendors, live music, incredible food, and a raffle, all under the open December sky at the foot of Mount Kenya. Every shilling raised goes directly to local charities. And yet, for all of that legacy, the fair had no digital presence whatsoever. Vendor applications were managed manually. Ticket sales were offline. There was no way for vendors to apply, for attendees to buy tickets in advance, or for sponsors to get involved digitally. A charity event of this scale deserved better infrastructure and Kickass Online delivered it, free of charge.

THE KICKASS FIX.

We designed and built a complete four-page event website from scratch, no brief, no template, no prior digital assets. The visual identity was built around the character of the fair itself: a forest green, hot orange, and gold palette, David Banfield's iconic East African watercolour illustrations embedded throughout, and a custom giraffe mascot. The homepage communicates the event instantly, date, venue, what to expect, and how to buy tickets. The vendor page runs the entire application process: three tiered stall spaces (Mt. Kenya, Savannah, and Highlands), add-on pricing for power and furniture, a full six-step application flow via Google Forms, and a QR code vendor pass system that is anti-fraud, server-linked, and single-use. The ticketing system runs entirely through M-Pesa, the payment method Kenya actually uses with advance tickets generating a QR code direct to the buyer's phone. Raffle and sponsor pages complete the ecosystem. The entire site was purpose-built, mobile-first, and handed to the EAWL committee with zero technical knowledge required to manage it.
