Substance Misuse Policy

Purpose: The Substance Misuse Policy at Kickass Online Ltd (KAO) is designed to promote a safe, healthy, and productive workplace. It addresses the issues related to the misuse of alcohol, drugs, or other substances.

Scope: This policy applies to all employees of KAO.

Policy:

  1. Zero Tolerance: KAO operates a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use, possession, distribution, or sale of illegal drugs in the workplace. The misuse of legal substances, including alcohol and prescription drugs, is also prohibited if it affects work performance or safety.
  2. Impairment in the Workplace: Employees must not be under the influence of any substance that impairs their ability to work safely and effectively. Any impairment at work, whether from medication, alcohol, or other substances, must be reported to a supervisor.
  3. Support for Substance Misuse Issues: KAO is committed to supporting employees who are facing substance misuse issues. Employees are encouraged to seek help voluntarily. Confidentiality will be maintained, and support may include referral to appropriate counseling or medical services.
  4. Testing: Where applicable and legally permitted, KAO may conduct drug and alcohol testing in cases of suspected substance misuse or as part of an accident investigation.
  5. Education and Awareness: KAO will provide information and training to all employees on the risks associated with substance misuse and the support available.
  6. Reporting and Consequences: Employees must report any suspected substance misuse in the workplace. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  7. Responsibility of Managers and Supervisors: Managers and supervisors are responsible for enforcing this policy and for responding appropriately to substance misuse issues in the workplace.
  8. Legal Obligations: This policy is in line with legal requirements and health and safety obligations. It respects the rights and privacy of employees while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all.
