Vacation Policy

Purpose: At KAO, we understand the importance of work-life balance and recognize the value of rest and relaxation. Our vacation policy is designed to provide our team with the flexibility to enjoy time off while ensuring the company's continuous operation and success.

Eligibility: All full-time employees are eligible for vacation time. Part-time employees may be eligible on a prorated basis, depending on their working hours.

Accrual and Usage:

  • Employees will accrue 20 days of paid vacation per year, beginning on their start date.
  • Vacation time accrues monthly at a rate of 2 days per month.
  • Unused vacation time can be carried over to the next year, with a maximum carryover limit of 10 days. They do not carry over to another year.
  • Vacation requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance and approved by the direct supervisor or the HR department. Approval will be based on operational needs and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Peak Periods: Due to the nature of our business, certain times of the year may be designated as peak periods where vacation requests might be limited. Employees will be notified of these periods well in advance.

Unplanned Absences: While we encourage planning vacations in advance, we understand that emergencies happen. In such cases, employees should communicate with their supervisor as soon as possible.

Public Holidays: In addition to paid vacation, employees will also have 8 public holidays off, as recognised by the company.

Leave Encashment: Unused vacation days cannot be exchanged for cash except in the case of termination or resignation, where the company will pay for the unused vacation days as per the current salary rate.

Special Considerations: We recognise and respect the diversity of our team. Employees may request unpaid leave for religious, cultural, or personal reasons, subject to management approval.
